14 days of running: Lessons learned
- Breathe through nose only. Otherwise it’s a struggle with lots of mucus
- If < 40 degrees F, wear gloves & tighten hood
- Count 1-2-3-4 or 1-2-3-4-5-6 repeatedly
- Run in grass/dirt where possible
- Avoid visualizing a goal/end state like “I’ll can rest when I get to that point.” Just run.
- Don’t drink or eat right before. It sloshes around too much
- It’s so much easier when it’s warmer (50F vs 30F)
- Huge improvement can be made in just weeks. I was out of breath by .5 miles when I started and hated it. Today I did .75 miles easily at a better pace.
